CTP'S History
Founded in the summer of 2011 by Manuel Prieto and Patrick Phillips. CTP’s goal is to produce quality, student run theater at USC with an emphasis on creating an opportunity for actors, directors, designers and musicians to be a part of high quality and relevant theater. First production was Spring Awakening (Dir. Maddy Heyman) in February of 2012 in the Massman Theatre. Spring Awakening was followed by CHICAGO The Musical (Dir. Shaya Mulcahy) in February 2013 in the Massman Theatre. Both shows were incredibly successful, selling out their runs in 36 hours (Spring Awakening) and 11 minutes (CHICAGO.)
Due to popular demand, the following year, CTP moved to its new home in USC's largest venue with RENT (Dir. Shaya Mulcahy) in January of 2014.
In 2013, CTP began an Educational Initiative to bring its shows to local youth in USC’s surrounding community. CTP held a special performance with educational programming for CHICAGO with local 8th graders. The Education Director and Associate oversee CTP’s outreach to local middle and high school aged youth.
